Patrick’s Zimbabwe Experience

In another exclusive interview, Patrick details his experience working on the House Rudland project in Zimbabwe. From material logistics to the hardworking team that made it happen, Patrick’s dedication shines through.

Aluvent in Zimbabwe

Interviewer: Hi, I’m Patrick. At the end of September, we went up to Zimbabwe to complete phase one of this project. We were up there for 3.5 weeks. The project included an entrance pergola (a big one) and a terrace pergola in the back.

Interviewer: Patrick, how did you get all the materials for the job up there?

Patrick: The materials were ordered and delivered from Johannesburg (JHB). They were then cut, welded, and manufactured at the workshop, then sent for powder coating. When they came back from the powder coating, the guys had to wrap them with bubble-wrap and cardboard. A courier came and collected them to transport them all up to JHB. In JHB, it got transferred to another courier service that took it to the site. As soon as it got to the site, we flew out a few days after.

Interviewer: Can you tell us about the team that went with you?

Patrick: The team consisted of four of us. Myself as the Installation supervisor, Bryan as the lead fitter, Taswell as his assistant, and Elton as a general helper.

Interviewer: Did you only work, or were you able to be a tourist as well?

Patrick: It was pretty much just work. I was sick as a dog for the first two weeks, but I had to suck it up. I couldn’t afford to be man down, even though the guys pulled their weight and did a good job on that side.

We appreciate Patrick’s dedication and hard work during the Zimbabwe project. Stay tuned for more exciting updates from Aluvent in the upcoming newsletters!
